CERTAINTEED UNIFIES GYPSUM/CEILIINGS/INSULATION BRAND

CertainTeed(R) Brand Now Includes North America’s Most Comprehensive Line of Interior and Exterior Building Products

Valley Forge, PA – CertainTeed Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of gypsum wall board and ceiling tiles to its CertainTeed(R)-branded line of interior and exterior building products.

In December 2005, CertainTeed’s parent company, Saint-Gobain, the world’s largest building products manufacturer, acquired BPB PLC of the United Kingdom, the world’s largest gypsum manufacturer and the third largest U.S. manufacturer of suspended ceilings.

Effective today, BPB’s North American gypsum wallboard and ceiling businesses join the rich heritage and legacy of the 103-year old CertainTeed brand as CertainTeed Gypsum and CertainTeed Ceilings. In addition, Saint-Gobain’s well-known Ecophon(R) and Decoustics ceilings product brands will become part of the CertainTeed Ceilings line.

“This is a watershed event for our company,” says Peter Dachowski, President and CEO of CertainTeed Corporation. “With the exception of our insulation business, historically, the CertainTeed brand has been known primarily for products used on residential, exterior applications. The addition of Ceilings and Gypsum to our brand family now gives us formidable strength for interior and commercial applications as well. The result is the most comprehensive line of building products in North America under one of the industry’s most respected brand names – CertainTeed.”

The CertainTeed-branded line of building products now includes the following categories: ceilings, walls, residential and commercial roofing; vinyl, polymer and fiber cement siding and millwork; vinyl windows and patio doors; residential, commercial and mechanical insulation; fence, railing, deck; foundations; pipe and access covers.

For use in residential and commercial buildings, the expanded CertainTeed brand now includes these well known ceiling and wall products: ProRoc(TM) Gypsum Board, GlasRoc(R) High-Performance Sheathing, ProFin(R) Joint Compounds, Celotex(R) Mineral Ceiling Systems, Ecophon(R) Acoustic Ceilings, Decoustics Ceiling Systems, Capaul(R) High-Performance Ceilings & Wall Systems and Gyptone(R) Designer Gypsum Ceiling Systems. These products are manufactured at approximately 30 facilities throughout the United States and Canada.

“These products have already earned the confidence of contractors throughout North America and we are delighted to include them in the CertainTeed brand family,” says Dachowski.

About CertainTeed: Through innovation and creative product design, CertainTeed has helped shape the building products industry for more than 100 years. Founded in 1904 as General Roofing Company, the firm made its slogan "Quality Made Certain, Satisfaction Guaranteed," which quickly inspired the name CertainTeed. Today, CertainTeed is North America’s leading brand of exterior and interior building products, including roofing, siding, windows, fence, decking, railing, millwork, foundations, pipe, insulation, walls, ceilings and access covers.

Headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, CertainTeed and its affiliates have approximately 9,000 employees and 70 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Canada. In 2006 the group had consolidated sales approaching $4 billion. www.certainteed.com
